Gayle's Story
Gayle's walk with the Lord began with being unable to walk. Just
days after graduating from high school, she was swimming in a lake
near her home town of Lamar, Colorado, when she was struck by a
motor boat. The accident changed the course of her life, for it was
during the long, painful recuperation that a friend gave her a New
Testament.
Over and over again, her testimony speaks of God's deliverance
from the jaws of death (in other words - there's much more!).

Work History
Prior to graduating from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1984,
Gayle served on Young Life's staff in Colorado Springs, Colorado,
and at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church - Tucson. She was
ordained in 1984 in the PC(USA) and has served two established,
yet different, churches in the Phoenix metropolitan area - as an
Associate Pastor, with husband Tom, at Scottsdale Presbyterian
and then for 14 years at Historic First Church in inner-city Phoenix.
During her tenure there, the church emerged from one that was
considered to be "dying" to a significantly younger and more
ethnically diverse congregation.
Surrounded by very real needs, she led the congregation to open
its heart and ministry to the homeless on a daily basis, as well as
establishing Downtown Urban Community Kids (DUCK), a life-
changing after school ministry for at-risk kids.
In December of 2002, her health required her resignation from Historic
First Church. Along with her husband, Tom, she now spends her time
with their ministry, Compelling Communication - a ministry of
preaching and teaching - speaking at retreats and providing content
at numerous special events around the US. She also serves on the
Board at Whitworth College in Spokane, WA.
